When it comes to necklaces, you don’t have to choose just one. The latest trend is to layer them up to create a personal style statement. With these three tips, you’ll be on your way to becoming a pendant pro.
1. Pick a centerpiece.
Start with a main piece as the foundation of your layered look. A pendant, though lovely when worn solo, can be taken up a few notches when you add layers of chains. A simple pendant is a great place to start, whether it’s a single stone or accented by smaller stones.
2. Choose complementing chains.
While your chains don’t need to match, you should choose one theme. So, perhaps you’ll stick to one style of chain but mix your metals (also a big trend right now). Or, you’ll choose all gold chains but incorporate different styles and textures. You’ll also want chains of varying lengths, so they will work together rather than fighting for space.
3. Keep it simple.
Mastering the layered look is easy when you stick to a few key pieces. You don’t want to layer many chains or the beauty of your pendant will get lost. You can go with as few as two or as many as four chains, depending on the length and complexity of each one. Make sure you don’t overpower the main centerpiece—the pendant.
