At her White Coat Ceremony for her Nurse Practitioner Program, Grace had no idea that her life was about to change—not only was she marking the next phase of her education, but her boyfriend, Edwin, was about to surprise her by getting down on one knee.
Here at Diamond Nexus, we were so touched by their story and Edwin’s service, we wanted to make sure we did everything possible to make their wedding day perfect. We were happy to be able to gift to them Edwin’s wedding band, along with some beautiful jewelry to help make Grace into a beautiful bride.
How They Met
Edwin had just gotten back from his second deployment and was out celebrating his homecoming with friends; Grace happened to be at the same restaurant celebrating a friend’s birthday party. When the two locked eyes from across the room, they say it was love at first sight for both of them. Edwin approached Grace that night, and they danced, laughed and truly fell in love.
The First Surprise
Two and a half years after Grace and Edwin met, Edwin was deployed for his final tour of duty. This was heartbreaking for the couple, as they would be apart for six months. While Edwin was gone, the couple proceeded with plans to purchase a house, and Grace found the perfect place. Even though Edwin had only seen it through Skype, they knew it was the place they would call home for many years to come.
Through all of this, Grace eagerly awaited February 4, 2016—the date that Edwin told her was his homecoming. Little did she know, that was a make-believe date, and both of their families and all of their friends knew that he would actually be coming home three months earlier than that. It’s pretty amazing that all those people kept such a big secret!
One December day, their families came to the new house to help move some furniture. The doorbell rang, and Grace opened the door to see Edwin standing there in his uniform with two dozen roses! Tears and laughter were caught on camera during the special moment.
The Proposal
Just one week after the surprise homecoming, Grace had her White Coat Ceremony. The Dean of the school asked Edwin to come on stage to thank him for his service and on the way to the stage, he grabbed Grace’s hand to bring her with him. She had no idea that the Dean was in on the proposal plan!
Up on the stage, Edwin got down on one knee and asked Grace to marry him. She started to cry and went straight into his arms! With shaking hands and a tear rolling down her cheek, she—of course—said yes to spending forever with Edwin.
“I had no clue! I was completely surprised!” Grace says. “All my friends and family knew the plan for at least a month before. It was a magical moment I will never forget!”

The Ring
Edwin proposed with the beautiful Angelix engagement ring from Diamond Nexus. He chose it for Grace because it looks classy, sophisticated and elegant.
“It has just the right amount of shine without being too flashy,” he says. He planned the engagement for about two months—while he was deployed!

Planning the Big Day
The couple is happily engaged and planning their wedding day—set for this summer. They cannot wait to celebrate their day with their family and friends.
Edwin has chosen the Grant wedding band along with a classic watch, and Grace will look stunning in her Angelix engagement ring and matching band, complemented by round cut stud earrings and the beautiful Memory Lane ring for added sparkle.
